123 Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms, 2018 Edition SIMPSON THACHER & BARTLETT LLP • “Despite the often-heavy workload, I’d imagine that this firm probably offers one of the best overall BigLaw experiences that an associate could have. Having co-workers who are cordial and respectful, even during stressful times, makes a huge difference.” • “I am very happy with my job. I am several years in with no plans to leave. Most of it is because the work is really interesting and the people are very pleasant. I am given a ton of responsibility with only partner oversight, so I don’t have layers of associates telling me what to do. As a result, I learn directly from the partners, which makes the job more interesting overall.” • “Although BigLaw is not easy, Simpson goes above and beyond to make sure their associates are happy and getting the type of work they want. I get the sense that the leadership at Simpson genuinely cares about my career development and satisfaction at the firm.” Firm Culture • “Simpson provides a nice balance—it’s a friendly and social work environment without imposing the need to spend all of my social time with coworkers. My coworkers are friendly and always supportive.” • “The work environment is great in that it is collegial and generally friendly. The firm organizes social gatherings and opportunities, though it may not be a main focus, which I believe makes sense in that the firm does not want to impose and wants to be respectful of the life of the attorneys outside the office.” • “Culture is the firm’s strength: perhaps the most professional and hard-working yet affable group of individuals I have ever been a part of. Socialization is not forced, but there are plenty of opportunities.” • “The overwhelming majority of people at Simpson are extremely cordial and easy to work with. However, there are a few people who can make your life miserable if you get staffed to work with them.” Associate/Partner Relations • “Partners are extremely approachable at Simpson. I strike conversations with partners (even from other groups) in the elevator or the cafeteria. Partners will invite associates to coffee or lunch to get to know them better. Small teams (usually a junior, mid or senior, and partner) allow for great interaction between associates (even at the most junior level) and partners.” • “Most, if not all partners have an open door policy and encourage associates to come by their office to discuss both work and personal matters or concerns. All the partners I have worked with, whether on cases or firm committees, have been very respectful and have always encouraged associate involvement. The firm as a whole tried to be as transparent as possible and have firm update meetings to discuss the firm’s performance and finances.”

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
