conditions because they are seen as deviant within in society. On a micro level, social deviance perpetuates poverty because society separates itself from things out of norms. People separate themselves from people who are living in poverty. On a macro level, society has taken away power from those living in poverty. They no longer are able to contribute to society by not really having a voice. I think it is because they are kind of out casted. This also takes away their motivation which can lead someone to practice more deviant behaviors (Robertson, 2014). Use the GCU library and identify an actual solution to the problem of social deviance. Summarize the solution you identified and compare it to historical solutions proposed in the past (150-200 words). To find a solution, we need to first fully understand what causes deviance a long with what leads up to it. Like previously mentioned, social media has been found to make certain norms and values more tolerable within society. Research also found that lower states with religion, have higher rates in deviance. This could be because most religions have a message of deviance not being accepted. They also involve worshiping a God, which also teaches and leads their followers to respect authority. It is hard for researchers to fully study this. Deviance can be situational, and it also changes over time. An example of this is that Marijuana used to be very frowned upon. Today, it is more accepted within society. This could be because people became more lenient to the idea. It could also be due to social media and how it is portrayed online. It has become more accessible and more accepted, it now being legal in some states (Robertson, 2014).
