At my facility, we have monthly all-staff meetings that keep everyone up-to-date on new policies or changes happening within the organization. These meetings also include safety awards, special acknowledgments, and anniversary mentions. We also have unit specific meetings each quarter. This meeting is more specific to the needs and concerns of a specific group working on one unit within the hospital. We also discuss the reporting of suspected abuse as it is very common in this population. This supports nurses in decision making regarding their working environment. My facility also promotes professional development by offering tuition reimbursement to full and part-time staff. They also provide a computer lab for employees to use with access to free printing. Because of this, I have had the opportunity to receive reimbursement towards my Bachelor’s degree along with free printing of online materials. This has helped with my cost of education and furthering my professional development as a nurse.
