1. Starting on page 505, Sherry Turkle primarily uses anecdotes to advance her point regarding the mechanisms through which we communicate, increasingly note by telephone calls. To what extent do those anecdotes resonate with your own experiences? a. Sherry Turkle’s use of anecdotes in use to advance her point regarding the mechanisms through which we communicate did not really resonate with me personally 100% but I could understand the issue. For me personally, I have been used to my parents making phone calls all the time. From my mother who will call anyone at any time whether it is early in the morning or late at night. Just a little catch up call or even a full on two hour conversation. My dad is always on the phone for business and corporations, so for me it is normal for a call rather than a text. Given into my day to day life, I will state that I have personally resorted to text over social media or instant messaging, but I do not feel the fear or unwilling willingness to make a phone call. Even when I do call, my friends will sometimes state that it is weird to receive a phone call when so many people only resort to text messages. For me, the anecdotes that SHerry Turkle uses does not make any leeway with my own personal experiences. 2. In what situations have you found one method of communication to be better than another? Or, when has it been worse? Byf “methods”, think of texting, messenger, social media in general, email, phone or even face to face. a. Personally for me, I have found that face to face is the best use of communication no matter what form or topic is being discussed. Face to face allows a person to completely understand the words, topics, intentions and underlying reasoning for responses. Face to face is not always the most efficient though, which I would then rank an actual phone call because you can still receive the sensory and sound behind the voices. Although texting is very efficient in getting points across and
