There are 2 steps in successful project

This preview shows page 4 - 6 out of 7 pages.

There are 2 steps in successful project communications – develop communications strategy based on stakeholder and project needs, then develop communications plan based on strategy. (Project, 2004) Stakeholder Management Success in the management of the project is strengthened if stakeholders are engaged from the start of the project and kept engaged throughout its execution. The project manager should identify the best approach to their stakeholders, as some stakeholders are easier, and others require more time investment. He should develop a Stakeholder Management Plan based off the Stakeholder Power vs Interest Matrix and use this plan to manage the stakeholders effectively. They can be an asset or a problem for the project, and both the negative and positive aspects of the stakeholders need to be identified and managed.

BEST PRACTICES IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT 5 Time Management During the planning phase, the project manager should be able to define the project duration, critical milestones of the project, and a schedule of all component projects. The first step to defining a project schedule is to identify the scope of the project. According to Schwalbe, Best practices in schedule and scope control involve granularity of the schedule, incorporation of buffers (risk management), and formal delivery acceptance and project change processes (Schwalbe, 2016). It is also important to consider which project activities are at-risk in delaying the project from its completion. By identifying weak areas at the start, a contingency plan can be created ahead of time in the case of a project holdup. It is important to engage with suppliers and purchasers earlier than later, to ensure that the project is not held up due to materials unavailable.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
