THE EFFECT OF HOURLY ROUNDING ON FALL PREVENTION
Appendix
The following are feedback from patients and nurses on Hourly/Purposeful Rounding on
falls prevention. With their consent four patients and nurses were randomly selected to produce
feedback on hourly/purposeful rounding. The purpose was to see how effective
hourly/purposeful rounding is in patient safety. An analysis of the questionnaire handed over to
them showed that 4/4 of the patients felt safe with the introduction of hourly/purposeful rounding
as per analysis of the results given in the eight questions of the patient’s questionnaire. Three of
the patients questioned knew what hourly/purposeful rounding is which a good thing because as
healthcare workers we are to educate our patients as much as possible.
Also, all nurses who received the questionnaire felt that hourly rounding is a good
initiative in patient safety based on their response to question five on their questionnaire, which
allows for them to be proactive. According to the feedback on the sixth question, which is about
the purpose of the initiation of this evidence -based practice, all of nurses felt that it is a proper
safety measure. Lastly, they all believe that this evidence -based practice could reduce falls rate,
which is the main purpose of my project.
