The upper level of the conveyer, the tote bins are brought to the front of the picker. In an hour in the system, 650 picks can be achieved.On completion of the picking to the store bins, the bins are moved away by the conveyer system. The computer system has to be developed in the big warehouse. 2What are likely to be the key implementation issues for any future operational change? - Changes over time: +More machinery+More picking stations+3 shift per day- Key implement issues: having a reliable partnership such as SANDC and well-organizing in Receving and Storage department.
3Continuous improvement is being sought in all operations. How can the present SANDC operation be improved still further in terms of efficiency, service levels, ergonomicsand sustainability? What areas may be worthy of examination?
efficiency- SANDC has to meet the changing need of the rise in demand immediately and be able to providing to the increase in demand during various times. - Integrating with information technology to automatic the process
service levels- Allowing customers to access the physical store inventory information of all the stores worldwide.- Keeping the inventory at standard levels by using an integrated system to manage the automatic process.
sustainability- The SANDC has to work in an environmental friendly way and the efficiency of the machines has to be enhanced to minimize the error while processing the products- The warehouse has to be designed in an environment friendly manner having the various features like solar panels, process for collection of storm water and automated lighting control system
