The data also portray the concept of Law of Heat Exchange in terms of comparing the experimental and actual specific heat of the metal. Wherein there is some variation between them that leads to 9.79% of error. Meaning, the concept was performed but not performed perfectly. II. Conclusion A. Overall success of the experiment To use the principles of calorimetry, specifically the Law of Heat Exchange, when combining objects with different temperatures. To use the Law of Heat Exchange in determining the specific heat of solid metal. B. How the concepts were used in the experiment The concept of calorimetry will demonstrate a change in temperature upon mixing the substances in calorimeter and will be able to determine the specific heat of solid metal. C. Insights, Understanding and Learnings This experiment let us gather different concepts regarding calorimetry and some information pertaining to the nature of it and how can calorimetry be applied in the real-life situation. This experiment also includes real life situation, for example, we apply cold patches on the forehead of a person with fever. The Law of Heat exchange will apply on this situation because the cold patches will absorb the heat coming from the body of a person with fever and will obtain the required body temperature is 37 Degrees Celsius. D. Application to Engineering and to My Field of Study Having knowledge on calorimetry and Law of Heat Exchange is important to engineers, especially aspiring engineers. This can be applied in some chemistry courses and can be used for measuring the amount of heat released or absorbed in chemical or physical reactions. In my field of study (Civil and Environmental & Sanitary Engineering), the concept of calorimetry may be used in measurements and prediction of heat of hydration of some cement products. Another application of calorimetry is the heat engine which utilizes heat to perform mechanical work.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
