What are the three types of anthrax infection? Describe each type. The three types of anthrax infection are cutaneous anthrax,inhalation anthrax and gastro-intestinal anthrax. Cutaneous anthrax occurs when skin comes in contact with the bacteria bacillius anthracis. Papule forms on the skin which then ruptures and leaves dead tissue. 20 % of indivduals die. Inhalation anthrax occurs when spores are inhaled.Severe respiratory issues occur. The mortality rate can go as high as 100% as it enters the bloodstream.Gastro-Intestinal anthrax occurs when contaminated meat is ingested. Symptoms include vomiting,nausea and abdominal pain. 25 to 75% of infected humans die. 5. How is the anthrax bacteria transferred to humans? Anthrax bacteria is transferred to humans through the exposure of meat,wool,skin and animal products of infected animals. Due to inhalation, ingestion and contact with open wounds.
