become so aggressive to the point he wants to commit a crime against her, womenbegan to feel vulnerable and powerless, thus forcing them to negotiate their safetyon a daily. Radical feminist feel the main causes of gender inequality stems from: the needs of men to control women’s sexuality and reproductive potential as well as patriarchy. These women also feel the reason why men physically, sexually andpsychologically victimize women is for their own desire to control women, treat them as “property”. All of the scholars mentioned in the previous paragraphs were the opinions and theories of white middle class professional women. Jaggar and Rothenberg( both white females) made the statement that women of color must deal with the realities that they are both female and nonwhite in a society defined by patriarchy and white supremacy (Moyer p. 259). The author goes on to say even though bothgroups of women are both “oppressed” white women continue to have more privileges because of their race. I agree. Black women have three strikes already against them before somebody actually gets to know them; African American, social class and female, off of those characteristics alone they are already prejudged. An African American feminist by the name of Vernetta Young challenged the assumptions and stereotypes attached to black females as offendersand victims. Young also made the statement that the theorist before her based the “ideal” women specifically off of upper class women. Young explains black females were not characterized as good women and bad women, as the white women.
