and be a very responsible person. The thing that I have learned from the director that was not in the text was they do not have a policy and procedures manual. However they have been doing quite well without it. I do think that there would be a lot less gray area in the expectations of the employee if there was one available to them that will help them know exactly what is expected. I feel that policies and procedures are extremely important in security management because it makes sure that there are not any questions on what the employee is able to do to stop an offender. Instead of a policy/procedure manual everything is communicated verbally. This particular business security management is placed on every individual in the facility. I say everyone because anyone that has to watch children must be able to identify any threat to the children or personnel and be able to prevent it or deter it. Every personnel in the facility are to carry mace and are trained on how to use it effectively. I also interview some of the other personnel on their security duties and they all stated they CJS 250

must protect the children at all cost. Each individual employee treats the children they are taking care of as if they were their children. The staff supplies all of the children’s needs food, clothing, shelter as well as education and security. CJS 250
