9 degree. Increasing Job Market While some aspects of the economy are facing toilsome troubles preserving their current employees, let alone trying to hire on new employees, the public relations job market seems to be avoiding extreme economic struggle. When comparing the public relations job market in merely a year from February 2012 to February 2013 Public Relations Specialists experienced a 66.4% increase in available jobs (Lombardi 2013). According to the US Department of Labor, the Public Relations Specialist was listed as number six in The Seven Jobs that Aren’t Going Away, in fact, the projected job growth from 2010-2020 in this particular career field is 23 percent (Hirt); clearly a job market I can find and sustain a career in. Environmental Freedom Indeed I would enjoy moving to Austin, Texas, where I spent the majority of my life growing up, however, it isn’t the only job market that could satisfy my career ambitions. For instance, Dallas, Texas, is listed as one of the metropolitan areas with the highest hiring demand for Public Relations Managers and Specialists (Lombardi 2010). When looking at a study conducted over 90 days Dallas had 356 new online postings in search of Public Relations Specialists, along with a 45.3% increase in jobs available from 2009-2010, this percentage is projected to continually increase up until 2020 (Lombardi 2010). Because I don’t have a husband and kids I have the uninhibited freedom to decide whether moving to a city other than Austin is opportune. Demand for Social Media Skills Lastly an opportunity that significantly impacts my job search is the ever-growing demand for social media skills. Throughout February 2013, there were 96,000 jobs available in search of Public Relations Specialists with social media skills, this is a 36% increase compared to the same time period last year and, will continue to be high in demand for years to come

10 (Lombardi 2013). While pursuing my bachelor’s degree I took advantage of many classes that offered the skills to have a successful social media site. Through these classes I absorbed that these sites aren't just about using social networking, instead, social media positions require candidates that understand the analytics behind social media, know how it can impact the company, and communicate these ideas to other departments or lines of the business. With this knowledge I implemented these practices into my own social media sites, as proof to my employers that if can maturely and successfully handle all social media aspects of a college sorority girl, then I can certainly handle the social media demands of a business. Threats While I currently have countless factors assisting me in my pursuit of a career, there are also external threats beyond my control that endanger my objectives. These threats, while I can do my best to overcome them, are unpredictable in nature, and could change my plan effortlessly.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
