Bailey & De Propris (2017) expressed that the government works well with automotive industries because they can have the tax advantage and regulation advantage that helps them. Government regulation on the automotive industry is brilliant because the automotive industry is only growing. This allows the government to have a hand in regulations and can always have the upper hand on the conversation. The manufactures of the vehicles are responsible to recall and fix what is broken and the government regulates what is considered good enough and safe enough to pass to go back on the road. Lawrence & Weber (2017b) write that “businesses see themselves as countervailing forces in the political arena and believe that their progress, and possibly survival, depends on influencing government policy and regulations” (p. 159). Tesla is a great example of a company that has much more influence than just building electric cars, they have political influence that helps market their product as well as drives the government to maintain open regulations that help keep the world a safer place for drivers.
