2 . The mild steel pieces was cutting by using “Mastika’s” steel cutter machine. 3 . The equipment and tools like arc machine were prepared before welding started just like in the picture.
DURING WELDING PROCESS : 1. The vacuum blower was turned on. This is to make sure the fume from the welding process not spread around the place. 2. The switch of the arc machine welding was turned on. 3. The current of the machine was adjusted around 70 – 100A. Next, the earth clamp was a clip on the table. 4. An electrode at the electrode holder was put and make sure that there is no movement of the electrode at the holder.
5. - The electrode holder was held 30- 60’degrees work angle and 2mm – 3mm above the base metal. - The electrode was tested on a test metal plate until some spark come out. -Welding was started on workpiece then proceeds from left to right or from top to bottom (for the right hand) to combine 2 pieces of mild steel. - The correct technique is holding an electrode at the start position for 1s or 2s and continue until the end of the process. In the end, hold an electrode at the last position for 1s or 2s before finishing the process. 6. The welding surface was hit to remove the slag by using a chipping hammer. 7. The surface of mild steel was again cleaned to see the result of welding work by using a wire brush AFTER WELDING PROCESS :
1 . Clean up the workspace from any electrode debris. Keep all the tools at their places neatly and make sure the power supply have been shut down. 2 . Use the tray to remove the plate and excess electrode that have been used on the welding space. 3 . Throw all the excess in the waste box that have been provided according to its material.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS : 1) Make sure to wear safety equipment such as glove, welding apron, protective shield to avoid accident happen during doing a welding. 2) Only operate welding equipment you have been trained to use. 3) Weld only in designated area. 4) Always wear approved face shield and apron while doing welding process.
