be used reminds me of a movie made in 2002. Minority Report, written by Philip K. Dick, screen play by Scott Frank and produced by Steven Spielberg is about a special police unit tasked with stopping crime before it happens. While in the movie they use people to see the future, it is not much of a stretch to see computer algorithms being used in the same way. Systems capable of this type of detection are already in use in some areas of the United States. (Chow 2013) Deontology would argue that domestic surveillance used to catch criminals is ethical because the police force or government for acting on any suspected criminal activities. It is this ethical theory of holding to the letter of the law that makes actions as a cool even if the rule itself is not technically ethical. Using this Theory to determine if domestic surveillance is ethical requires that all the rules in place about how the infirm to also be ethical. And practice some of the laws pertaining to digital surveillance and data collection are slightly outdated. Companies combat this by protecting patrons by requiring a warrant receive confidential information about people who use their services. CCTV Works a little differently, all businesses are areas that are using video surveillance only need to post a sign stating that the people in the area are being recorded.
