Activate WPA, or WPA2 and create an encryption key o Set up the wireless connection o Connect an internet access device Wi-Fi Security o Wireless networks are much more susceptible to an unauthorized access and use than wired networks o LAN jacking, or war driving, is the practice of intercepting wireless signals by cruising through an area o Wireless encryption scrambles data transmitted between wireless devices and then unscrambles the data only on devices that have a valid encryption key WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) – weakest WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) WPA2 o Activate encryption by using a wireless network key Sharing Printers o Three setups allow for printer sharing: Set up printer sharing using a workstation printer Set up printer sharing using a printer server Install printer with built-in networking Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) o Uses tiny transponders in tags that can be Attached to merchandise or other objects Read using an RFID transceiver or reader for the purpose of identification Primarily used to track merchandise from supplier to retailer to customer Global Positioning System o Uses satellites to pinpoint the location of objects on earth o Using a GPS receiver and a network of 24 satellites GPS can tell exact location of receiver on the earth’s surface o GPS
