EXPERIMENTAL FINDINGS AND RESULTS: Our experiment did not have any significant findings due to the fact that we knew what cations were present and how to look for their presence. However our tests did show positive results for the presence of Bi 3+ , Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ , and Sn 4+ . These results are recorded on the attached data sheet. Possible experimental errors include the mixing up of chemicals such as KOH, NHO 3 and NH 3 since they are all similar with letters. This experiment contained a lot of steps and was very easy to get lost in, many errors could have arisen while trying to complete the procedure and accidentally skipping a step. One error made by myself was within our last steps of adding NH 3 at first I added a few drops and saw no difference in pH. I proceeded to add many drops and still faced this issue. It was then that I realized I had been adding the dilute NH 3 and not the 6M. Once realizing and adding the 6M our solution quickly became basic. This did not affect our results because this experiment is qualitative however if we were using measurements for a quantitative experiment this error could have ruined our entire lab. 4
