Such relationships will be based on amutual sense of positivity and care. There should be a considerable amount of open communicationabout subjects such as educational performance and cultural integration. The children and familymembers should be aware that you are focussed on their best interests and that you are prepared to doeverything within your scope of responsibilities to help them. Again you should be prepared to take thelead and model behaviours which the children can follow.Trusting relationshipsThere are a variety of steps that can be taken for the effective promotion of trust in your educationalsetting. It will be important to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information provided bychildren and families in accordance with organisationalexpectations. You shouldn’t show anypreference for particular children based upon their culture or other characteristics. It will also benecessary to act with consistency in your communications with children and family members. Youshould maintain a sense of professionalism and demonstrate appropriate control over situations.Children should be aware that you will listen rather than jump to conclusions when accusations aremade or educational performance dips. You should only make promises and commitments if you areentirely sure that they can be met.
