Her day begins around 0900 with a brief report from the charge nurse of any problems thatneed to be fixed, than after that she answers emails and phone calls, and any other task that needsto be done on that day. In between all of her task she is to report to scheduled meetings. The professional journals she typically can find reading when she has time is Infection Control Todayand AACN. The Infection Control Today journal gives the latest problems on infections and howthey are best treated. The AACN journal gives the latest information on critical care nurses including education, certifications, and conferences or events to attend (American Association, n.d.). One of her greatest accomplishments was when she was voted one of a hundred greatest DFW nurses in 2016. Nurse LeaderEvery person in a leadership role has a leader style they lean more towards. There has been great research on the different leadership styles and they are grouped by their specific traits.One of the best leaderships styles to me is one that best complements the staff as a whole enoughto get the job done in a safe and efficient way. I believe my leader that I shadowed falls more into the leadership style of servant leadership. This particular leadership style leads with empathy, awareness, and persuasion (Sullivan, 2012). I witnessed her being very empathetic towards another employee. This particular employee was having a rough time at home and she gave them some time off to help them be able to fix their home life. She has also been known to show empathy when employee’s need a day off they have already been scheduled. She usually will not even ask questions, but instead just give them the day off. THE NURSE LEADER4effective as far as a leader. When talking with employees she makes them well aware that she knows what’s going right and wrong on the floor. I have witnessed her talking about another employees problems to another employee behind their back. I am not sure why she does this, either to make us aware she knows of the problem or to make us be more empathetic towards thisparticular employee. I believe she handles her responsibilities for the most part very effectively.
