kernels about 500 to be precise. Teosinte’s kernals were hard as rocks unlike the modern corn. 9) Chocolate products, cosmetics, and batteries. 10) It took only one gene. 11) It took hundreds or even thousands of years. 12) You in a sense knock the gene out of the sequences or remove it to see what its function if. Thus creating a mutant. 13) The purpose of studying mutants is to get a better understanding of what the genes are actually doing in the organism. They also help in mapping the genes of the genome of the organism. 14) The seeds of cotton 15) A hybrid is the resulting offspring from the crossing of two plants within the same broad species that were separated by location. For example the offspring cotton that resulted in the mating between the species of cotton that came from Mexico and the cotton that came from Africa. 16) The resistant plants contained a gene that allowed it to be resistant to the blight. These plants came from a wild Mexican species. 17) In studying the genome of the potato if the gene for resisting blight is found and the plant is able to reproduce and survive successfully then is would improve the health of humans. This is because less fungicide and toxins would be sprayed on the plant. It would also cost less money to just grow a resistant strain of potato to blight than to buy and spray the fungicide. Thus improving farming and agriculture. 18) In order to prevent Blight fungicides are sprayed on the plants. If a Blight resistant strain of potato was grown then it would eliminate the need for the fungicide and other toxins that go into protecting the plant. Also since potato’s are a staple in most people’s diet if a blight resistant potato was created then no one would have to worry about another famine occurring that would wipe out this source of food. 19) It is a bacterial diesease and belongs to the particular group called Oomycetes. 20) It is important to study plant genomics in order to improve agriculture and human health.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
