The purpose of these interventions would be to inhibit Ashley’s physical maturation and growth so that she could be more easily lifted, transferred, and cared for. Ashley’s parents feel their daughter enjoys being carried around, cuddled, and having a change of scenery. If she grew heavier and larger she would be moved less frequently, and thus be deprived of the pleasure this generated for her.
