Restoration According to Christian world view, Christ dying on the cross was the answer or solution to the problems with Humanity. His death was payment for the debts incurred from the sins of everyone else. “He appeared once for all…to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself” (Hebrews 9:26). The consequence for sin is death so by Jesus’ sacrifice of his own life in the name of all 3
the sins, those who accept him into their lives will be spared and forgiven. Grace and faith are the foundations for salvation. To achieve salvation, one must have total faith in God and not question his word since he bestowed his grace upon us. Christians believe to transform or change self and society, Humanity must learn to abstain from the sinful desires that were like second nature. Society must learn to rely on God and his word and live their lives as he would. To think and act like him and no longer give in to the corrupt ways of thinking and acting. Analysis The benefits of the Christian beliefs are that they have a positive influence on society. These beliefs are a set of values to promote living an honest and fruitful life by giving of ourselves to God and serving him. By confessing our sins and praying to seek his forgiveness of those sins, we will then be accepted into God’s Kingdom. One subject that has been debatable is whether or not Jesus and God are equal. It was pointed out that during the incarnation, Jesus submitted to God, yet when he was resurrected, Jesus raised his own body proving that he was just as powerful as his father (Hedberg, 2011). What can be confusing about Christianity is the belief that the world was created by God. It is difficult for many to comprehend how one “person” can create the world and its people. Tangibility is what most want to hang on to when trying to accept a truth and to many, the Bible simply tells a story and does not provide any tangible evidence. Scientific ideology is easier for someone who doesn’t believe in God to believe such as the Big Bang Theory and the Theory of Evolution. Belief that there is one being in control of everything is difficult for many to grasp. Christianity has a tremendous influence on one’s thoughts and actions. The Bible states, “let this mind be in you which is also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). Once acceptance of Christ has occurred in someone’s life, they have then made the conscious decision to live according to his expectations. By serving God, you 4
have forsaken a life of sin and become devoted to taking care of your fellow brothers and sisters while being thankful for his sacrifices.
