Mar 7, 1793: France Declared War on Great Britain and the Netherlands Due to the success from the Battle of Valmy the French Revolutionary Army wanted to help other European countries achieve freedom like they had through the revolution. Aug 23, 1793: Levee en Masse This showed the dedication that the people of France were not just loyal to their community but their whole nation. The conscription gave fair and equal treatment to all the soilders. People were fighting for their nation in the time of need when France was at war with several other nations. Sept 5, 1793: The Reign of Terror The executions were used as a message that by executing people and the King there was nothing anyone was going to do to stop them from getting rid of the enemies in France, or anyone who wanted to go against the Revolution that would pose threats or obstacles. Sept 21, 1793: Women and the Revolution Women fought for equal voting rights as well as political involvement and continued fighting for it as they wanted to be involved in the nation instead of having the main role of taking care of children at home, even though some women were killed by the guillotine. July 27, 1794: The Reign of Terror Ends Helped result in a new government as well as a new constitution and helped the people of France connect with their identities. Directory Nov 2, 1795: The Directory This form of government that was put in place and was a five member committee that governed France. It came into effect after the committee of public safety. They had formed councils that were divided into sections to come to decisions.
