immersion elementary school was that a large number of student were ELL students and that most spoke Spanish in the home. This also meant that in the earlier years 1-3 some of the students were testing below grade level in the California state test. I also began looking into what a dual immersion classroom breakdown was. I found out that In dual immersion vs full immersion on general education was that the earlier years were 70-30, 60- 40 and finally 50-50 English in the language spoken in the classroom.
Name I found this to be valuable information to research as I was seeking to better my of possible behavior plans to be implemented in the classroom. By knowing how much of the class was spoken on the majority of the students' native language I could decide when the best time to introduce a behavioral plan would be. In particular if I was looking to introduce a more complex system like a token economy I would need to make sure the abstract ideas like earning rewards for future dates would best be presented. Determine the role culture plays in the school environment.
