Equal emphasizes the close cooperation between stake-holders and the breaching of organisational boundaries through transnational partner- ships for development and social inclusion. The project investigates the institutional conditions for combining such boundary transgressing practises with regular or- ganisational activities within local Swedish municipalities, as well as the effect of these conditions for policy output in the area of anti-discrimination and diversity policies (Lindgren 2002, 2003, 2003a). Maritta Soininen’s research projects on public policy, policy implementation and political participation in the field of migration and ethnic relations include implemen- tation and organisational analysis as well as comparative policy analysis. She is currently direction ‘Diversity Prac- tice and Policy,’ a multidisciplinary research programme within CWW (2000-2006), hosted by the National Insti- tute for Working Life. The aim of the programme is to generate interdisciplinary knowledge as a basis for de- veloping strategies for diversity in the multi-ethnic Swed- ish working life. The research is being carried out in col- laboration with research groups, in among other coun- tries, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Denmark and the USA. She is further responsible for a multidisciplinary comparative research project entitled ‘Diversity and Anti- Discrimination Policies in the Diverse World of Work’, 2003-2005, funded by FAS. The project addresses the translation of the(EU) Community anti-discrimination and diversity policy into policy measures in the member states. Maritta Soininen´s research has been dissemi- nated through international research cooperation and participation in networks. She is a member of two inter- national research networks. Strategies and Methods for Diversity in Working Life and International Scientific Committee of International and European Forum of Mi- gration Research (FIERI). The aim of FIERI is to promote international research cooperation with emphasis placed on comparative analysis and evaluation of state policies, and to fill the gap between research and public opinion and policymaking. Ethnicity, Cultural Categorisations, Social Segmentation: Professor Aleksandra Ålund (LiU) In line with the intentions of the CWW programme, a theoretical development of the concept of ethnicity in the context of international migration has been continuously elaborated by professor Aleksandra Ålund (Ålund 2000, 2002, 2002a, 2002b, 2002c, 2003, 2006b). In different studies she has elaborated the role of ethnicity focused on ethnic mobilization, with a special focus on youth in the contemporary multiethnic city, thus relating ethnicity to the dynamics of social exclusion-inclusion (Ålund, 2003, 2003c, 2003d, 2004, 2006c).
