need for vengeance can drive them to act. However, the impulsive and reactive nature of the vigilante can usually lead to negative consequences. There are four specific types of vigilantes which include, the private spontaneous vigilantism, private organised vigilantism, official spontaneous vigilantism, and official organized vigilantism. With these different types, they all ultimately have the same goal or objective. The private spontaneous vigilante is an individual that works alone in their seeking of justice for the wrong that they feel and usually tend to act in the heat of the moment or spontaneously. The private organised vigilante tends to be an individual who has thought about, planned, stalked their victim, and premeditated the actions that they are going to take to achieve their justice. The official spontaneous vigilante is a group of people who share the same belief in the seeking of justice who act in the heat of the moment. Finally, the official organised vigilante is a group of people who have met and planned out their course of action. Aside from these first four types of vigilantes, there are also another two types that are crime control vigilantes and social control vigilantes. The crime control are generally more concerned with the quick and severe punishment of a criminal or offender. These vigilantes are dependent on the offender learning that their criminal behavior is unacceptable in the community and it will not be tolerated, regardless of what happens in the justice system. The social control vigilantes tend to be more concerned with any threats to the social order of things in the community. This could be anything from groups to people to events that could be taken as a threat to the quality of life and they will not be tolerated. “Vigilantism - Criminal Justice - IresearchNet.” Criminal Justice , 17 Sept. 2015, criminal-justice.iresearchnet.com/system/vigilantism/.
