themselves from slaveholders but also revolting. White Americans control over both freed and enslaved blacks, attempted to strengthen as White Americans tortured institutions attempting to help blacks through rioting. According to the African American Odyssey Philadelphia had the worst riots from 1820-1850 through burning homes, halls, and churches. But even through it all black communities flourished across America as African Americans built Societies, Churches, and Institutions as a means to help the free and the enslaved. According to Dictionary.com Morality is described as “a doctrine or a system of morals” and morals are described as “of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong”. If curtain rules are set in place to treat one person as one would treat themselves then would that not compel a person to follow them. But only applies to people. An example of such would be the decision made by the Supreme Court chief justice Roger Taney who ruled the decision on the Dred Scott v. Sanford case that “They had for more than a century before been regarded as beings of an inferior order; and although unfit to associate with the white race, either in social or political relations; and do far inferior that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect; and the negro might justly and lawfully be reduced to slavery for his benefit”.
