I would link this to creating a niche in the market place by way of linking a corporate strategy of creating maximum value for the company, and creating a customer driven ³rm by means of creating what customers will want. The operational aspects of it take place in the synergy of the company. Linking Market Research, with Research and Development to create a prototype that will succeed and allow the company to generate sales and implement mass production all from the operations strategy of getting everyone in the company on the same step for the same purpose."The operations strategy links together long-term and short-term decisions about operations to the corporate strategy and then develops what capabilities the ³rm should use in order to be competitive." and "Operations strategy is vital element that organizes a ³rm's internal processes so they can be successful in a competitive environment and brings these processes together to form a supply chain that includes suppliers as well as customers." Yes, nested processes are everywhere. You have provided nice examples going beyond just manufacturing. Of course, there are also processes that are connected in series rather than being nested. In some ways, I see this as a company's overall business strategy or even the marketing strategy.
