[5] 2.Change Management at KOKEB SACCO PL.Kokeb cooperative societies saving and credit union (KOKEB SACCO) which is operating inAmhara national regional state ,Awi zone Ankesha Guagusa Woreda was established on Feb.9/2008 with affiliated membership size of 34 primary administrative cooperatives with totalmembers of 23,423 of which 2920 are females. The union has started operation with a paidup capital of birr 580,790. In accordance with the cooperative societies proclamationno.134/2006 the union was registered and licensed on June 30/2008 by Amhara Nationalregional state co-operative promotion agency. (KOKEB 2007/2008)At present the membership size is 50 primary cooperatives of which 13 are RUSACCOS,with total members of 41,163 individuals of which 6638 are females. The union has 92potential primary rural SACCOS a total number of members will be 74762 of which 12214females. The union has three tiers of governance namely; general assembly, Board of management andcontrol committee. The general Assembly is the highest governing body and it is responsiblefor formulating rules and regulations that are foundations for the proper functioning of theunion each member primary cooperative is represented by one delegate in the GeneralAssembly. The board of management (BOM) is elected from among the General Assembly.The BOM is primarily responsible for the execution of decision passed by the generalassembly. The control committee which has 3 members too is selected from among theGeneral assembly and it is responsible for internal audit and control. In addition, both theBoard of management and the control committee are accountable to the General Assembly allthe committee have their roles tasks and responsibilities defined in the bye-laws of the union,the overall management and operation of the union is under the guidance and supervision ofthe aforementioned three committees as far as paid employees are concerned currently theunion has a plan to recruit a loan officer, a branch accountant and two security guards.
