It shows how loyal his men are to him, they treat him with a great sense of power, however, Walton just has them to help him out with stuff and the men are still loyal. Letter 4 13. Since Victor is the mariner he will tell tales and offer warnings. Quote Theme Context Analysis "He must have been a noble creature in his better days, being even now in wreck so attractive and amiable." Passion and Regret In this quote Walton insists that his friends seems to be a little more different than he imagined him to be. Walton states that his friend seems to be troubled because of all of his concerns. To have your first friend as a person that seems to be troubled can be hard, however, Walton has to be thankful and passionate for his friend because he finally has a companion. Chapter 1 17.
