IN THE NEWS August 2017 Baker’s Billions Baker McKenzie announced global revenues for the fiscal year ended 30 June 2017 of $2.67 billion, another strong year for the firm. Baker McKenzie’s total global revenues were up 5% in dollar terms compared to previous year. In US dollars, the firm’s reporting currency, this translates into growth of 2.1%, highlighting the appreciation of the US dollar against most other currencies in the period. July 2017 Advancing Gender Parity For the seventh consecutive year, Baker McKenzie has been named one of the top law firms for women by Working Mother magazine, recognizing the firm’s outstanding practices for retaining and promoting women lawyers. Published in the August/September issue of Working Mother , the annual recognition honors 50 law firms for “their policies in the advancement of women and for the implementation of work- life balance initiatives.” Law360 also named Baker McKenzie among the top five best law firms for women attorneys in its 2017 Glass Ceiling Report. April 2017 Focus on Sustainability Baker McKenzie recently became the first law firm to join the World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a global, CEO-led organization of over 200 leading businesses working to promote sustainable practices. The WBCSD was formed to help make member companies more successful and sustainable by focusing on the maximum positive impact for shareholders, the environment, and societies. March 2017 Agile Attorneys Baker McKenzie launched a flexible work initiative for all employees in North America, providing increased access to a range of agile working arrangements including telecommuting and working alternative schedules. The program, called bAgile, is part of Baker McKenzie’s global commitment to creating more opportunities for flexible working. The launch of bAgile is in part based on the results of a recent internal engagement survey that showed workplace flexibility was a key priority for many of the firm’s employees. February 2017 Top of Mind for Clients Global legal consultancy Acritas recognized Baker McKenzie as the No. 3 law firm in the US in its 2017 US Law Firm Brand Index, based on a survey of 765 in-house counsel. The firm has risen a record 42 index points since the survey began in 2012, demonstrating continued growth in the US market. The US ranking follows Acritas naming Baker McKenzie as the strongest global law firm brand for the seventh year in a row.
