To receive a LPC-I title, my state, Texas, requires a
student to obtain 300 hours of supervised clinical
experience with 100 of said hours being of direct client
counseling within the course work; additionally, to
receive a LPC Title, a potential counselor needs 3000
clinical hours with 1500 being of direct contact,
(Counseling Licensure in Texas, 2015).
GCU requires a student to obtain 600 hours of supervised
clinical experience with 240 of said hours being of direct
client contact within the course work, (Master of Science
in Professional Counseling, 2016)
In Pre-Practicum, I’ll need 100 hours of counseling
related activities with 40 of said hours being of direct
contact. The remaining 4 practicum courses will each
require 150 hours of counseling related activities with 50
of said hours being of direct contact, (Master of Science
in Professional Counseling, 2016).
