So what she did was go to her wealthy friend Madame Forestier to borrow something and found “a stunning diamond necklace” (paragraph 46). Believing that she had the ideal appearance to go out in public, Madame Loisel felt ready to go to the event with her husband. Madame Loisel was finally proud of what she looked like. She created the reality that she had always dreamt of for herself. At the event, “All the men looked at her, asked who she was, and wanted to be introduced to her” (paragraph 51). Giving off the appearance of a wealthy upper class woman, she was adored by the men around her and envied by the woman that were present at the event, which is exactly what she wanted in the first place.
