For the company like Barclays it is required for them to keep their managers and employees motivated so that they can be more productive. Barclays will help the manager to understand the need of the theory with the help of these they can able to understand the needs of the employees and the stakeholder to motivate them. The Process Theories: 1. Vroom’s Expectancy Theory : this theory places an emphasis on the process as well as on the content of the motivation as well. This theory aims to explain on how the people choose from the available actions. There are three factors: Expectancy: In which a person will belief on more effort will result on success. Instrume ntality: in which a person thinks there is connectivity among the activity and goal.
Valence: the degree to which a person appreciate the reward and the result of success. Barclay can implement the theory from the first day which is in the recruitment and selection. In which the recruitment will be on qualification as well as they will be posted in the department were they can be perfect which will create interest among the employees. Employees expect the response from the employer on the work which they have done. In Barclays they anticipate the employees work. 2. Adams' Equity Theory: the equity theory states that the people will motivate if they are treated equitably and they expect they receive on whatever they have given the efforts and cost. People compare their contribution to their work, cost of their actions.

Limitations: Lacks Empirical Research: In the content theories there has been lack of research which has been done. In these theories the Maslow’s theory is one of the oldest on which has been followed by everyone. However there has been a less research which has been conducted in the same field. In the process theories there has been lack or research which may hinder the goal of understanding the motivational theories. Individual Difference: In the content theory it has been seen that each individual has a different behavior and they are not always prompted by his or her consciousness. So the theories cannot be accurate to measure the motivation in the organization like Barclays. In the process theory it has been applied the same as motivation can affect differently on different people. So how the motivation works in the individual will be not accurate. (Woods et al. 2018). Cultural differences On content theory it has been seen that Maslow suggest that the higher order needs depends on the fulfillment of the lower order needs. It will be far more convincing in a broad sense that between people and across cultures it may vary. In little culture the harmony is much needed then self actualization (Short, McKenny and Reid, 2018).
