How Rococo Influences Modern Art Design Rococo has greatly impacted modern design, especially modern web design. Rococo is famous for the two C’s; comfort and Curves. In addition to web design, Rococo has influenced other artistic works such as architecture, sculpture, and painting. Rococo’s playful, feminine, and delicate styles have greatly influenced clothing, interior design, tapestry, and furniture. Rococo arts are intricate and best for indoors works such as furniture, frills, and porcelain figures. The rococo artistic style was common during the period of Marie Antoinette. Modern designs use rococo style to develop ornate furniture, suitable for rooms, and other rococo decorations to compliment the architecture (Moreno, 2014). Modern designs uses the asymmetry and elegant rococo styles whenever there is need for an atmosphere of frivolity, fun, and fancy. The style is considered extremely fashionable. The informality of the rococo style gives modern design a sense of freedom to express their feelings and thoughts through art. Rococo style gave people an opportunity to express themselves in a certain way. For instance, if you look at contemporary websites, you will see the aspects of rococo style such as elegance, beauty, wealth, and luxury. These aspects are depicted in the backgrounds, graphic elements, textures, images, ornaments, frames, and decorations of modern websites. Some of the characteristics or features of rococo style present in modern design include pastel colors, patterns, and lightening aspects. The S curves of rococo style have been adopted in the 20 th century by modern designers such as Alvar Aalto and Jack Lenor Larsen. The Art Noveau movement in France conducted the most expressive rococo style re-interpretations in the 19 th and 20 th century. Rococo is used as a design combined with modern finishes.
