We believe that all clients should be served with compassion, empathy, fairness, and respect. Integrity – We believe our employees should be professional, competent, honest, and knowledgeable; maintaining the highest level of integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and concern for our clients. We believe in always striving to maintain the public trust. Innovation – We believe that we should demonstrate the ability to adapt to change and to be flexible in our approach to solving problems and providing services. Community – We believe that we should build and maintain internal and external partnerships to address public health challenges, including effectively utilizing resources, solving problems, and building relationships. There are many programs and services administered by the ADPH; a few of them would be a chronic disease, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, pandemic influenza, ALL kids, and family planning. additionally, ADPH has programs on WIC, minority health, rural health, social work, home care services, sexual assault/rape, suicide prevention, youth violence/bullying, intimate partner/domestic violence, infant mortality, and cardiovascular. Chronic Disease represents the biggest threat to health and wellness and put at risk the economic welfare of the United States.

Chronic diseases and conditions cause major limitations in daily living for almost one out of every ten Americans. According to the CDC, the top five chronic diseases leading to death and disability are heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, and arthritis. The STD division of ADPH works to identify populations at increased risk for sexually transmitted infections to reduce transmission to others and the development of related complications. Pandemic Influenza Unit has a responsibility to ensure pandemic education, planning, and preparedness for individuals, organizations, and communities while providing for the emergency medical needs of the population. The Family Planning unit of ADPH promotes the well-being of families, responsible behavior, and healthy mothers and babies. The goal is to prevent unintended pregnancies through education and contraceptive services allowing for the planning and timing of pregnancies. The Social Work division participates in national, state, and local initiatives to enhance the services provided to the people of our state.
