They are simply a set of questions focusing on critical aspects of management that contribute to performance excellence” (Baldridge 2012c). The seven criteria areas are: leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, measurement, analysis, and knowledge management, workforce focus, operation focus, and results. The website also shared “Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence,” which is a PDF workbook that helps organizations guide their Baldridge performance improvement efforts. All aspects of each criteria can help in trying to improve employee satisfaction. However, employees that have been around for a while might see this effort as a dead-end street because of previous management and how things have worked in the past at MHS. They might not be cooperative in the surveys as well which could lead to the executive team being fired due to seniority by the board because they are new, and theemployees don’t want to give them a chance at making things better.

Cope 5Case MAnother option that could be used is high-performance work practices. This is a model that over the past year has been proposed to help examine HPWPs in HCOs. The usefulness of this model has been investigated through a series of case studies of HCOs that were considered a good placeto work. “HPWP’s can be defined as a set of practices within organizations that enhance organizational outcomes by improving the quality and effectiveness of employee performance” (2011, 202). “Their examples of such work practices include involving employees in organization decision making, applying selective hiring practices, and using rigorous recruiting practices. Various work practices can be considered HPWP “subsystems” that provide an organizing framework for how to think about four main areas of HPWPs: staff engagement, leadership alignment and development, staff acquisition and development, and frontline empowerment” (Garman et al. 2011; McAlearney et all. 2011). Pickett had been introduced to MHS through the selective fellowship application process, but he wasn’t sure how other employees were recruited for the various jobs across Mammoth Health System.
