Thompson and Miller (2013) recommend focusing on nutritional education programs to lessen nutrition problems and increase the success of ADHD treatment. There are many different options for pharmacotherapy, but most include a form of methylphenidate or amphetamine. Some common brand names include Ritalin, Vyvanse, and Adderall (Wilkes, 2017). When titrating medications, it is recommended to increase the dose until the desired effect is achieved without major side effects (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2011).
