There are those who question the need for the individual mandate in the light of other health reform legislation. In line with this, it is argued that the best way to deal with the current issue is to reform the health insurance first. The role and limits of government According to the debate over the individual mandate still going on and the same been in place, the government is under the obligation to ensure that all people comply. This role is bestowed on the government by the constitution and may only be overturned if efforts to repeal the provision were to become successful. In line with this, the role of the government is to ensure that all applicable people confirm on their income tax forms that they have purchased health insurance unless they are exempted to do so under the terms previously stated. The government also has the role of ensuring that all insurance covers meet the required standards. 9 individual mandate requirements despite the original idea that all people should benefit equally from Medicaid. Conclusion The affordable care act is geared towards reducing the number of people with no coverage by improving access to health care coverage to benefit those who were previously excluded via insurance market regulations; offer subsidies to individuals who qualify and households that depend on private care policies; create fiscal incentives and opportunities for states to offer health care coverage through Medicaid and CHIP; create wide risk pools; and net employers who do not offer their employees with health care insurance coverage. The debate surrounding the individual mandate requirement is bound to continue before a solution is to be found or before the provision is repealed according to the wishes of critics. What remains to be seen is which the government will take to ensure that those with preexisting conditions and those with low and moderate incomes remain covered should the provision be repealed.
