One other of the many great things about Peanuts is it’s cross-generational appeal . Adults and children both love it! For children, the stories of Charlie Brown and his friends are entertaining and fun . The animations are full of color and easy to follow . While, adults enjoy the cartoon just as much but for different reasons . Adults are capable of reading in between the lines and gaining the implicit meaning that Schulz incorporates through his characters and their experiences . This quality in an animation series is crucial for it’s existence and popularity . Thus, the explanation for Peanuts great success . Perhaps we can all learn from Charles Schulz and his messages that he expressed through his animation . As said in Peanuts: Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together? I guess that wouldn't work . 8

Someone would leave . Someone always leaves . Then we would have to say good-bye . I hate good-byes . I know what I need . I need more hellos (GoodReads) . This simple, peaceful attitude is made clear through Schulz and his characters . If more people lived by the morals that Schulz expresses through Peanuts , we would create a much more positive and rewarding world to live in . Maybe that is what Charles Schulz was aiming for when drawing and personalizing his cartoon . He used his animation to send a message of peace to our society . Almost as if to ask, if Charlie Brown and the crew can live simply and with open, warm hearts, why can’t we? And in doing so, wouldn’t that change our world for the better? Through lovable yet relatable characters, Schulz has built a long-lasting franchise through Peanuts . Whether his character details resurrect from his own attributes or if they are a controversial representation of society, Schulz creates the perfect balance between personalities to form a defined group of characters that are loved and adored by fans to this day . In addition, by solely using children as his characters, Schulz has a significantly different effect on his audience than using adult characters would . By using children, he has the opportunity to approach more serious material with a comical relief . Normally, the themes that Peanuts touches upon would be considered mature and categorized in the dramatic genre . However, with his focus on children, Schulz breaks 9

that barrier and opens up a realm of possibility in regards to age and what effect that has on meaning . It is hard to imagine growing up without the Peanuts cartoons . As I have grown older, I only am reunited with Charlie Brown and the gang when I tune-in for the annual Halloween and Christmas specials . Nevertheless, Peanuts will always be close to my heart, as will the life lessons I have learned from it .
