With the reinstatement of the draft, all of these divisions fade away and there is simply one force to prevent enemy infiltration, no matter what age, color or gender. Robert Litan expands on this argument, imploring how “people from different socioeconomic, racial and ethnic background working together to improve society “would help bring us together gradually over time”. (Source #4) This statement demonstrates how if various people were unified to work together, discrimination would be miniscule and divisional barriers would be broken.

Congress should also consider revamping the military draft because it would dramatically increase the strength of our force. Having millions of able-bodied individuals ready to serve on- call is much more efficient and favorable to our force rather than a couple hundred thousand of volunteer members. Author Clyde Haberman expands on this claim, interjecting that, “It doesn’t take much of an intuitive leap to guess that the last 16 years of war would have unfolded differently if more than a tiny cadre of America’s sons and daughters had to fight”.
