Explanation of Artistic Expression As a result of this paper, I have chosen to present my views of caring in a brief poem. This expression of caring came to me after realizing that caring is an action that we must choose to display to each and everyone we meet daily. Caring is an attitude and a lifestyle which creates equipoise in the soul. Through the poem presented, I exposed that caring is a feeling we think about day and night in hopes that we are practicing beneficence with all of our patients. I believe 4

ARTISTIC EXPRESSION: CARING that I captured the essence of caring in my short poem and that it can be easily applied in all areas of my life-both personal and professionally. Conclusively, caring is not only an innate feeling we’re born with. It is a feeling that must be cultivated and acted upon consciously on a daily basis. As noted The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2008) caring is identified as a foundational value in the nursing profession. 5
