INTELLIGENT DESIGN HOMEWORK 3 example of irreducible complexity. 1 Even if that idea is true, it is only an idea, not a hypothesis that can be proven right or wrong. One woman who opposed them was tasked with reading all versions of Of Pandas to find any evidence in support of her side. When comparing them, she found that the authors had simply replaced “creationism” with “intelligent design” to make their message seem more appealing. The publishing company’s religious bias was confirmed when the woman found another document detailing their “wedge” strategy. It sought to incorporate religion into every aspect of American life, which was clearly against the Constitution. In addition, when another witness took the witness stand, he revealed that the church had bought the textbooks, something his group had denied before. All these discoveries greatly weakened the case. 1 Ultimately, Judge Jones ruled that it was unconstitutional to teach intelligent design in Dover classrooms. He acknowledged that while the theory of evolution is imperfect, it is the best and most well-documented explanation available. 1 I agree with Jones’ decision, since I think intelligent design belongs in the realm of philosophy, not the hard sciences. As a nonreligious person, I would be disappointed if my child was taught that the book of Genesis is as true as any tested scientific theory. I would probably write a letter to my school district outlining the arguments in the court case favoring evolution. Talking to my child from an early age would also be important; I imagine trying to help him/her determine what is or isn’t science.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
