Anorexia A norexia nervosa- eating disorder in which an exaggerated concern with being overweight leads to excessive dieting & compulsive exercising & can lead to starvation Commonly afflicts young women Research Experiments show that anorexics are still physiologically responsive to food Twin studies indicate heredity factors Also indicate intrautarine enviroment may be important fMRI studies show anorexics have differntial activation in brain areas involved in control & less activation when rewarded for a correct answer Suggest maybe don't take much pleasure in food
