Explain if you will differentiate assessments for each of the following groups: English language learners (ELL): - If the student needs help understanding the word problems I will ask one of my gifted students to help or have an aide present. Students with special needs: - If these students need guidance I will break them off into a small group and work with them to answer their questions and give more direction. Students with gifted abilities: - The worksheet that they are given has more challenging questions on it. - They will also be asked to assist those that need help. Early finishers (those students who finish early and may need additional resources/support): - The early finishers will be asked to double-check their work. - There will also be additional sheets for them to complete with more challenging questions. BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT Extension Activity and/or Homework The students will be asked to complete the homework to assist in their understanding of elapsed time and using a number line. See attached. Time Needed 20 min Rationale/Reflection Think-Pair-Share allows the students to explain how they reached their answer while being able to receive feedback from other students if they have questions. This promotes communication and critical thinking because the students must understand how they reached their answer and be able to explain it to their partner. Exit Tickets allow the students to show that they understand the topic. They will be asked to answer 2 questions before leaving. This strategy promotes critical thinking in that the students must think about how to determine the elapsed time. Analyzing the students work will allow me to collaborate with the students as well as other teachers. When I review the students’ work I can see what they grasped and what I need to re teach. When I have a topic that I need to review I can discuss other ways to teach it with my coworkers. I can also collaborate with the students to see what they liked and didn't like about the lesson.
