If you miss a quiz without notifying me, your grade will be reduced. No late homework will be accepted. Some class assignments (including comprehension checks) cannot be made up. In case of inclement weather, please check the HCC Web site for closings and delays. You can also register for HCC Mobile Alerts at to get text messages about school closing. Class will be held if we have at least 30 minutes of class time available. Please note that HCC’s closings and delays may differ from Howard County Public Schools. If class is cancelled, please check Canvas for assignments and information. Academic Honesty Academic honesty, as defined in the Student Handbook, is expected of all students at HCC. As such, plagiarism, or using the words or ideas of others without proper citation, is not tolerated. Other examples of academic dishonesty include copying work from a classmate, allowing a classmate to copy one’s work, asking others to prepare an assignment, and/or cheating in other ways. Because there may be some cultural differences, if you have any questions about what constitutes cheating or plagiarism, please be sure to talk to me. More information can also be found in the Student Handbook and at . Extra Help 3
Students sometimes require assistance beyond that which is offered during scheduled class hours. Extra help can be arranged by visiting the Learning Assistance Center (RCF 340) or the Composition and Literature Center (DH 210). Students are also welcome to make appointments with me during my office hours, or contact me by phone or email (M-F). Students with special needs are encouraged to discuss them with me. Other Course Information This course is non-transferable. Students, however, receive college credit upon successful completion. Third Try Repeaters Policy: Any student who repeats a pre-college level course for the third (or more) time(s) is required to participate in free one-on-one tutoring through the Learning Assistance Center for a minimum of one hour per week. 4
