Part 2: Critical Essay Straight Outta Compton into the Hall of Fame Compton during the late 70s and 80s was filled with non-stop violence. From police brutality to robberies and shoot outs, the residents of Compton experienced a lot on the daily basis. The rest of the world had no clue on how life in South Central LA was during these times. N.W.A set out to be a voice of all this madness. Although they weren’t spreading peace and love, N.W.A influenced the beginning of ‘gangsta rap’ with their bluntly honest lyrics about growing up in Compton at the height of a crack cocaine epidemic in the 80s and managed to become one of the greatest rap groups ever and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Before I get into who NWA was and what they did, I want to give you a little background knowledge on how life was in South Central LA, California during the late 80s. Drive-bys every night and finally during the Richard Ramirez Night Stalker killing phase my dad sleeping by our door with a gun. Yup wonderful memories!” Without saying more, one can see how this quote perfectly explains the everyday life in Compton, California. Now, to NWA. The group would also have Arabian Prince as one of their founding members of the group, but he was one of the first to exit the group before they hit their peak. They were among the earliest and most significant popularizers and controversial figures of the rap industry. The group was banned from many
