with a brick; regardless of whether it was intentional or not. The use of violence is ironic since the point he is conveying is about respect and yet encourages people to harm each other. However, it is evident that the humor used in this advice is indeed perceived in an intended manner by the right audience. In other words, Twain wasn’t encouraging violence, rather he was relating the message with what the young people are used to. Another rhetorical device used is when he says that one should not resort to extreme measures; then goes ahead and recommends that one should find a chance and hit them with a brick ( Twain, 2018) . In conclusion, the use of a rhetoric device is ideal and important for authors to effectively communicate their messages. Conventional writing methods may not be as effective, hence writers use rhetoric so that the audience can understand the message better. Mark Twain’s use of rhetoric was intended to reach out to the young generation and to speak in a language that only they can understand better. It is important to note that the use of rhetoric doesn't lock the rest of the audience; however, Mike Twain used the devices to call out contemporary authorities and parents within the scope of his message. In this regard, it is evident that Twain succeeded in utilizing rhetoric and conveyed the message to young readers by the use of irony and humor.
