There is a concerted effort for the nursing students at Lawson State
Community College to master nursing concepts in order to be
successful in the nursing program as well as the initial writing on
NCLEX. To better assist students with being proficient in these
concepts, a student scoring less than 75% (not rounded) on a unit
exam is required to do mandatory remediation. Students must attend
the first review supervised by the instructor. After the test review, the
student must remediate in all areas shown to be deficient on the
exam. This remediation may take the form of the HESI case
studies/patient reviews, CD’s , DVD’s, tapes, review chapters, teacher
led study sessions(if offered), attend 2 hours of tutoring, etc. One
week after test review the student must take a remediation quiz,
schedule by the instructor.
PLEASE NOTE: THE SCORE FROM THE REMEDIATION QUIZ IS
NOT INCLUDED IN THE CALCULATION OF THE WEIGHTED
PERCENT OF THE COURSE GRADE. THERE IS NO FORMAL
REVIEW FOR THIS REMEDIATION QUIZ. ALSO, THERE IS NO
MAKE-UP FOR THE REMEDIATION QUIZ.
