used to help the company. It is a better way to solve problems. There may be disagreements within the discussions, and strategies for handling these types of differences could be to anticipate that this is going to happen at some point, and coach the team in a way that they recognize this, and can continue to work toward a common goal, even if they do not see eye to eye at times. Each employee must see that there are external factors within each team player that shape how they think and react. Once this is understood, the team can make unified decisions from the initiatives created. Different Diversities within a Group
6 Justin is new to the team as well as to the project since it has just begun. There are many numerous factors that can create diversity within this team. Informational diversity can be a factor in the differences this group may have with each other. Since this is a pilot program through waste management, this team must decide the safest and cost-effective way to start this program off. If everyone on the team does not share the same knowledge and experience of how waste management must flow within the healthcare system, issues may arise that can either halt the start date or become a program that is not effective based on a facility’s needs. Without proper knowledge, this can also damage the company’s reputation due to deficient performance grades and regulatory fines from health and government agencies. The direct performance affect will then have taken place. Diversity based on values and goals can also have a damaging effect on any group if not dealt with properly. With team unification regarding values and goals, the team has a higher probability of success because everyone has the basic understanding that the intentions of this team are equivalent to one another’s. The Impact of Diversity on an Organization Diversity can have a considerable impact on an organization, it can be a positive experience to have a diverse group of people who work together everyone brings their ideas and skills to the team. In a well-managed diverse workplace, there can be benefits that contribute to the growth of the organization. Some benefits can have included having employees that come from the community, and this can be familiarity for customers. As stated before, “diverse work groups often have more and better ideas because of broader backgrounds and experience.” (Kokemuller, n.d.).
7 There can also be some setbacks to having a diverse group too, "you cannot simply put a group of people together with vast differences and expect them to get along well immediately. There are unfamiliar with other cultures and have never had to learn about coexist and collaborate with people from completely different backgrounds." (Kokemuller, n.d.). One right way to help with any challenges that may arise within a diverse organization would be to have diversity training.
